THE ECSTASY of FIRST SIGHT

I go out there to find what is inside.
I think of painting as a two-dimensional
equivalent of my feelings and as a
response to that initial impulse.

Always on the lookout for the visual, I try to stay
alive to that thing that catches my eye
- or what Ludwig Kirchner referred to as
the "ecstasy of first sight".
